Thursday was Social Awareness Day during our Charlotte, NC Grand Opening Week. We had 3 amazing companies that participate in buy one give one programs that help children and families all over the world.
Jef Holm from People Water, Soapbox Soaps, and Smile Squared all came to Charlotte to help spread their life changing messages!
Jef Holm from People Water launched the bottle water company in NC at The Baby Grocery Store during our grand opening event. Previously, People Water was primarily only available in Utah, California, and a few other small areas.
For every bottle of People Water purchased, the company donates an equal amount of clean water to a person in need. What that means is that People Water builds wells, rain catchments, and even arsenic-free pumps in different countries to provide villages and communities with fresh water. Hence the Drop for Drop program name. People Water has already visited Haiti to repair hand-pumps, they have made several trips to Ghana Africa to build wells, and their first trip was to Tequezalt Nicaragua to build wells and repair pumps.
Every toothbrush bought at The Baby Grocery Store Charlotte, Smile Squared will donate a toothbrush to the North Carolina chapter of Give Kids A Smile! Smile Squared makes sustainable toothbrushes out of bamboo and the bristles are BPA-free.
Smile Squared donates toothbrushes to children in need all over the world. Statistics show that 60-90% of school-aged-children worldwide have dental cavities. Just in the U.S. 25% of children ages 6-11 and 59% of children ages 12-19 have tooth decay! Over 1 billion of these children live in poverty and do not have access to a clean toothbrush. That’s why Smile Squared decided to step in and help keep children smiling.
Being clean is something we often take for granted. Soapbox Soaps recognized the global need for hygiene and saw how many people lived in unhealthy conditions. More than 22,000 children die every day due to diarrhea, cholera, and typhoid which can easily be avoided by handwashing. Soapbox Soaps donates a bar of soap to a child in need for every bar sold. So far they have donated soap to Thailand, Kenya, Ecuador, Haiti, and in the U.S.
Soapbox Soaps makes a eco-friendly glycerin soap that is free of harmful chemicals, parabens, and synthetic ingredients. They use all natural ingredients and organic oils for a moisturizing soap. Though, their mission soap is slightly different since it is shipped all over the world in different climates and storage conditions. They are still glycerin soaps that are similar to a baby soap since most of the children have never used soap before.
You can purchase all of these amazing brands online at The Baby Grocery Store or stop by the store to support children and families all over the world!
